Independent diagnostics for U.S. households. This site does not take repair jobs.

Terms and Conditions

These terms cover a free information site. They are not a service contract.

These terms cover your use of the Hearthline website. By using the site you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use the site. They are not a repair contract, a warranty, or an offer to perform work.

What the site is

Hearthline publishes general information about appliance symptoms, error codes that many manuals share, and ordinary maintenance for households in the United States. The site does not accept jobs, dispatch anyone, or sell parts. Nothing on a page creates a service relationship.

Guides are not a substitute for the manual or for a qualified person

Appliances differ by model, fuel, and year. A step that is safe on one electric dryer can be the wrong step on a gas dryer. You are responsible for identifying your model, reading the manufacturer's instructions, and deciding whether you have the skill and the tools to continue. If the guide says to stop, stop.

Do not open a microwave cabinet, discharge a high-voltage capacitor, or work on a magnetron based on anything you read here. Those components can remain lethal after the appliance is unplugged. Do not open a sealed refrigeration system or add refrigerant. Do not adjust gas valves, orifices, or other gas-train parts, and leave the building if you smell gas. Do not bypass a thermal fuse, a lid switch, or a door lock. Electricity, gas, water, and moving parts can injure or kill, and they can damage the home.

Hearthline is not liable for injury, property damage, spoiled food, fire, or lost time that results from using a guide, from a code that does not match your model, or from a decision to keep going after a page told you to call a qualified technician or the gas utility. To the fullest extent allowed by law, the site is provided as is, without warranties of accuracy, fitness for a particular machine, or uninterrupted availability.

The text of the guides is original to Hearthline unless a page quotes a short passage from a public source and says so. You may read it, link to it, and quote a short excerpt with a link back. You may not copy whole guides onto another site, sell them, or present them as your own manual. Manufacturer names are used to identify products. They belong to their owners and do not imply sponsorship.

Photographs on the site were created for Hearthline. Do not republish them as stock or as images of a specific branded model.

Your messages

If you submit the contact form, you agree that the message is not confidential technical data and that the operator may use the substance of a correction to update a guide. Do not send unlawful, abusive, or infringing material.

Hearthline does not publish a street address, a phone number, or an email address. Questions about a guide go through the contact form.

Links to Whirlpool, Samsung, LG, GE Appliances, Bosch, the FDA, the CPSC, and other sites are there so you can read the source. Hearthline does not control those sites and is not responsible for their content or their uptime.

Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the United States. Hearthline does not claim a home state, because it does not claim a physical office. If a court finds one provision unenforceable, the rest remain. The date of this version is October 16, 2026.
